About Prof. Elaine Joseph

Prof. Elaine Joseph, MB. BCh., F.F. Rad (DIAG) SA, is a diagnostic radiologist specialising in mammography. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Witwatersrand in 1973 and went on to graduate from the faculty of Radiology of the College of Medicine of SA in 1982.

She has specialised in Radiology and education in various hospitals throughout her career, and served as the Clinical Head of Department of Radiology at both the Helen Joseph and Coronation Hospitals from 1998 to 2009. She also served as the Acting Academic Head. Of the Division of Diagnostic Radiology. Health Sciences and the University of the Witwatersrand during this period.

In 2002 Prof. Joseph was also appointed to the College of Radiology’s Examiners panel and acted as a moderator of the Radiological Pathology Examinations for Radiographers by Technikon Witwatersrand, and was appointed as an Examiner for the S.A College of Radiology soon after. In 2009 she became a Moderator for the S.A College of Radiology examinations, a position in which she still acts.

In 2003 she was appointed an Adjunct Professor of Radiology and in 2009 began serving as a specialist breast radiologist in a Private Mammography Practice with Dr. R Seider at the Donald Gordon hospital. In 2015, she took over The Breast Care and Bone Density Centre in Northcliff, Johannesburg from Dr Candy Pather, serving as the head diagnostic radiologist.

Prof. Joseph’s focus is on excellent diagnostic service while providing professional and compassionate care for each one of her patients.
